One of the most popular window coverings we offer are known for their ease of use and room-darkening qualities—roller shades. Roller shades are so popular because of their timeless style and simplicity. They are incredibly effective at eliminating unwanted light and can be incorporated into any room or style of decor. If you have an architecturally exciting space, roller shades will be functional without upstaging the rest of the room. If you have a room without significant features, your shade and any accompanying valances, etc can become that focal point and draw interest to the space.
We often suggest roller shades as they fill rooms with natural light when raised and block out most light when fully closed. Unlike many window treatments, roller shades do not have any “stack back,” material that blocks part of the view even when the treatment is fully open. If you have a small window or a room with limited space, a roller shade can be mounted neatly inside the frame and not take up extra space. You can choose to have a low-profile headrail or an eye-catching top treatment installed as well.
Designer Roller Shades from Hunter Douglas feature precision engineering for smooth, silent operation throughout the life of the shades. With more than 400 fabric options, your shades can be subtle or statement-making. Hang your roller shades as a solo window covering in a contemporary setting, or pair them with drapery for a more traditional appearance. Since there is no one-size-fits-all solution for some windows, consider Duolite® shades for windows where you want both a light-filtering shade and room-darkening panel but don’t want the hassle of hanging two different window treatments.
Design Studio™ Roller Shades are part of the exclusive Design Studio suite of products featuring unique designs from designers Rebecca Atwood, Marcie Bronkar, and Seema Krish. Design Studio™ shades are available in semi-opaque and opaque opacities and with various top treatments. You can also choose a fabric-wrapped bottom rail for an extra bit of personal flair. They are also available in regular and reverse roll to accommodate any window and preference.
It doesn’t get much easier than caring for roller shades when it comes to maintenance. In some spaces, fabric can add a distinct warmth to a space. Woven natural materials add texture. These treatments can be duster or vacuumed as normal. Vinyl material is moisture- and mildew-resistant and can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. You can hang vinyl roller shades in your kitchen without the worry of your window treatments absorbing cooking odors or becoming stained. Vinyl does not attract or hold onto dust and debris as easily as fabric window coverings. Simply give your shades a once over with a soft cloth whenever you dust your home, and they’ll keep looking great for years to come.
